Dr. Brackmann was raised in a small town in Central Illinois. After a year of internship and residency in Chicago, he served in the United States Air Force as a flight surgeon. 

After completing military duty, Dr. Brackmann completed his residency in otolaryngology—head and neck surgery at the University of Southern California at Los Angeles. He then completed a fellowship in neurotology at the House Clinic and joined that practice where he spent his entire career in the practice of otology and neurotology.

 In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Brackmann has been active in clinical research. His current interests are in management of Neurofibromatosis Type II and the auditory brainstem implant. He is the author or co-author of more than 300 publications and is the editor of 5 textbooks.

It's hard to believe that Dr. Brackmann has treated me for 30 years. Before being his patient, I had seen several ENT specialists with no good outcome. He and his staff have always been professional, caring, and good listeners - very personable. Over the years I have referred several patients to his office, and all have been extremely happy with his services. I will miss him when he retires and can only hope that I can get the care I've had with him all this time.

The wait time after checking in is really long and it doesn't seem like the staff is paying attention to how long you're there. It would be great if they could just reach out and say, hey, you're going to be next. Sorry, we're running late or something like that. Thank you.

I was able to get a timely appointment because I had to get my friend who referred me there on a three-way call as a convincing mechanism. The timeliness of my appointment once I arrived was professional and efficient. The doctor listened to me, examined my ear, did not find anything or calls or suggestions. He asked me if it reoccurred to call back to schedule an ear test, a hearing test. I would have preferred a hearing test then or for it to be scheduled while I was there, not to wait until it reoccurred to then decide to have a test.

There was no wait time to see the Dr . I appreciated the promptness of getting the appointment so quickly. The ease of getting in and out quickly was great!

Once we got to the office we were told that we were being seen by another provider. Had scheduled a appt with Dr. (name removed). Told we could reschedule after sitting in traffic for a hour which was upsetting. Then waited almost an hour to be seen. Dr Brackmann seemed nice enough but a little unfocused at times. Overall a very frustrating and lengthy experience.

My appt was cancelled without my knowledge,after confirming it They were able to reschedual me back in . It was all very confusing since no one could find out why it got cancelled After the test I had to wait another 45 min to see dr who was also confused why I did not see orig dr who was off that day.

The staff and doctor were both very kind and so was the doctor's assistant. Everyone at the office was very kind and easy to talk to. I was a little disappointed in that. I feel like we didn't work hard enough to find a solution to my problem and I was sent home with no guidance or any hope of treatment other than to just kind of wait for a problem that I've been suffering from for several years to go away. Because of that, I would not recommend this office, even though everyone was very kind. I wish they would have listened to me a little longer and helped search for more options for a solution. Thank you.

I love my experience at the office and with the doctor. I will say in order to make your survey easier to understand and more manageable, maybe tell everyone that they have four different options and make sure to listen to all of them before making a selection because most people are used to a yes or a no. I was only listening for the first two, the first couple of times and then by accident I heard that there was a third and fourth option. I think it's important so people know that they have four options to answer the question. That's my only feedback.

I was extremely pleased with the care and attention the provider gave me I was very nervous going into the appointment and he had a great smile mannerisms and was extremely professional which set the whole visit at ease He was very easy to work with. I would highly recommend the House Institute.

Like the new facilities for the House Ear Clinic. Much nicer medical building. Office staff seemed a little too much into private conversations with patients waiting. Location is the biggest hassle-driving 90 minutes to visit downtown is a big inconvenience. And, sorry to say, this part of LA is awful! Homeless, drug addicts and the poor people/unofficial street vendors trying to sell you things on the sidewalk in front of the parking garage. Grateful, I won't need to go back for several years.

My issue is with Dr. Brackmann. Honestly, the office staff were lovely people. They seemed all very well organized. But Dr. Brackmann is a, I don't know, (words removed) who immediately upon me showing him the CT scan report insisted that this is an overdiagnosed condition and then went on to interrogate me. I mean, interrogate, leaning into my whole body with his face, challenging me on every symptom I was talking about. I didn't even get to ask questions. The guy was an absolute douchebag. And I was trembling. I was absolutely trembling. It was so traumatic. He needs to retire.

Both waiting rooms were uncomfortably Cold. Audiology sign and reception area had very poor acoustical environment for individuals with hearings loss. Speaking and conversing with staff difficult.

Dr Brackmann is a very knowledgeable and caring person and physician ! His primary nurse is also very compassionate individual! The ladies at the reception area are professional and friendly, however, the person that does the appointments needs to be a bit patient! Not everyone knows your system! But overall I am very satisfied with your office! Thank you to all, specially Dr. Brackmann!

I really enjoy going to see Dr. Brackmann. He's very competent, and extremely nice, and understanding, and charming, and attentive. And I look forward to going every August. Dr. Brackmann is probably the best physician I have ever seen in a long, long time. He took the time with me, he explained everything, and he's very knowledgeable. I would definitely go back to him and to recommend him to my family, friends, even a perfect stranger he is wonderful.

Yes, I was extremely satisfied with Dr. Brackmann. I mean, he's an amazing physician and very knowledgeable, and the whole experience at the facility was excellent. Now when I started the survey, I didn't realize there was more than... that there were four numbers to push. I thought there was only one for yes and two for no. So the first three questions, I guess I didn't answer correctly. So I will give it a four for all questions. If you could please take care of that for me. Thank you and I look forward to visiting your facility and Dr. Brackmann again.

Yes, the doctor did not even examine my leg. He only was speaking about an old injury. I brought in my CD and my printed out report from my MRI from specialty imaging in Northridge. He didn't even look at that. He took x-rays of my knee, not of my calf or behind my right knee, what I went there for. I had to ask him and he kept talking about surgery for an old injury on my knocked knees. I wasn't satisfied with his response at all. I would not recommend him to anyone. But SCOE, I do respect them and I like SCOE. I would recommend SCOE.

Yes, Dr. Brackmann is fantastic. I love him. I've known him since 1978. He has helped me with everything, with my hearing problems and I've had surgery by him and he was recommended from Dr. (name removed) who was my doctor back in 1978. I'm now 85 and I've been going to the house clinic ever since. I love Dr. Brackmann and he's fantastic and I hope he never retires. Thank you very much. Goodbye.

Yesterday was my first appointment with Dr. Brackmann. He listened intently as I discussed my hearing issues and clearly explained to me the results of my hearing test and his recommendations moving forward with my care. Dr. Brackmann's experience, in depth knowledge of my condition, professionalism and kindness helped me feel at ease and heard. Thank you, Dr. Brackmann. I don't remember her name, but the friendly, professional woman who conducted my hearing test was excellent as well. We remembered each other from a few years back. Thank you so much. Thanks to Jenny for quickly scheduling my appointments for the following day. I met her at my appointment which was nice.

Dr. Brackmann comes across as a true professional. I could tell that he's very dedicated to his craft and he cares about patient outcomes. Also, the office staff were all very prompt and courteous. I have no reservations about recommending this office to friends and family.

I had scheduled an appointment early in the week for a Thursday morning since I was having accute symptoms. I told the scheduler that I could come in "any time, any day." When I arrived, I was told that someone from the office should have called me since my appointment had been cancelled. This was a total inconvenience since I took time off and rearranged my schedule to come in that day. I was offered and took an appointment for the following day. When I got home, I checked all of my phones to see if someone from your office had left me a message, but I couldn't find one. Please advise your office staff to be a little more diligent.

How the schedule is confusing. If I have a 9 am appointment and don't get seen until 10:45, that's ridiculous. They do t explain that they book you for a hearing test at 9 and then don't book you for an Dr appointment until 10:30. Why? The hearing test takes 15 minutes. Each time I have to wait an hour after hearing test before seeing Dr.

Dr. Brackmann was actually, he was patient and I have a very, I think, special, I had a lot of tests done and he was very patient with me and really thinking about what the possibility of what I've been feeling for the last two years, what it could be, and he was open to further exploring what it could be with another physician, by consulting another physician, so I appreciated that, but he was very patient and I appreciate his thoroughness.

We were not informed that we needed a balance test before coming all the way from Ojai to downtown Los Angeles, which was over a two-hour drive for the procedure with Dr. Brackman that we were told we were going to have. Once we got there, we were told that we could not get this procedure done on that day and had to reschedule for over a month away and then come back for a balance test before we can then have the procedure. We were very unhappy. Someone should have told us that the balance test was necessary and we could have scheduled both things on the same day.

I would like that the homeless situation, the tent situation around the hospital be taken care of because I couldn't really walk on Wilshire Boulevard. So it's very hard. I had to cross the street, you know, to go around and it's, I didn't feel safe. Okay. Thank you. Bye-bye.

I completed the patient information forms online prior to the appointment. However, I had to fill out the forms again in person. Having to complete those forms two times is unacceptable. Why would that be necessary?
